Snipes executing now - 2011-10-01

It looks like we finally got this disaster of an issue taken care of.  I will monitor the stats closely to be sure, but snipes have been executing in our testing.

IF YOU HAVE ANY PENDING SNIPES SET UP BEFORE OCT. 1, YOU'LL NEED TO DELETE AND THEN RESCHEDULE THEM FOR THEM TO EXECUTE. I disabled the set up page while we we're down, but enabled for testing and forgot to immediately disable again after unsuccessful testing. So, a few members set up some snipes in that time.

We were down way too long, I know. A sniping site cannot be down for eight days like we were, very unprofessional and really, embarrassing. we have a fair amount of monitoring in place to alert us when there is a problem, we just could not get this one figured out quickly enough.

We should now be set up so that we are not as a selected by design changes and such on eBay's end.  Still, I'll chat with our coder to make sure that there's virtually no way for us to be down like this again.  If were not pretty confident on that, I'll look into finding someone to take over for us that can handle things.

Again, sorry for the trouble, I've refunded all subscriptions for the month. Hopefully you'll give us another try.

Problem update - 2011-09-28

Okay, we have an estimate of four more days to get our problem fixed.  Which, I now is an eternity for a website, especially when it has already been dysfunctional for 4 1/2 days.

I guess the good news is, once the new code is in place, hidbid will be less affected by design changes and such on eBay.

Anyway, if you need to set up a snipe in the meantime, you can go over to BidBall.com.  They seem not to be affected by this issue.  I hate to send you someone else, but understand you need to be able to snipe.

Any subscribers I want to cancel their subscription can do so through PayPal, or just let me know and I can do it.  I have been refunding the subscription payments, but not canceling subscriptions.

Once again, we are very sorry for the trouble.  We know that a sniper is either great or horrible, unfortunately we are the latter at the moment.

I'll update the news section again with any new developments.

Update - not there yet - 2011-09-27

we are still having trouble.  We're making progress, but I really don't know where we stand at the moment, I think bad weather has cut off the Internet for our coder - actually coders, we brought another one in for this issue to try and speed up the process.

eBay made a change to their site causing us trouble.  The foundation of our code isn't how it should be.  If it was we would not have been affected by this change.  However, we are correcting it.

Again, we are very sorry for the problem and are trying to get it fixed as soon as possible.  We may already be very close, I really don't know because communication with the coders has been cut off for the moment.

I have refunded the majority of recent subscription payments.

I really don't want to send you somewhere else, but for the moment, you could give BidBall.com a try. they are not affected by this issue.
